Andhra Pradesh NEET UG 2026 Counselling: Cutoff, Seat Matrix & Admission Process

Welcome to your ultimate data-driven guide for Andhra Pradesh NEET UG counselling 2026. All medical and dental seat distributions across the state are officially managed by Dr. YSR University of Health Sciences (Dr. YSRUHS), Vijayawada. To enhance your choice-filling strategy and safe an MBBS or BDS seat, you must know the core parameters governing AP medical admissions:

  • The Seat Matrix & Regional Splits: A massive 85% of total state quota seats are strictly locked under regional reservation rules. Applicants are analytically mapped into also the Andhra University (AU) region for coastal districts or the Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) region for Rayalaseema districts. The lasting 15% seats operate as an Unreserved Open Pool accessible to all candidates based purely on NEET merit.
  • The Three-Tier Fee Structure: Seats in self-financing and government campuses are categorized into three financial frameworks: Category-A (Convenor Quota with highly subsidized state-regulated fees), Category-B (Management Quota open to all-India aspirants on merit), and Category-C (NRI Quota with premium institutional pricing).
  • Predicting Cutoffs: To help you filter college choices successfully, this portal provides verified, round-wise NEET score and rank cutoffs across all categories (OC, BC, SC, ST) for both government and private medical institutions.

Andhra pradesh counselling process 2026

1.Online Registration & Document Upload

Candidates must log in to the official Dr. YSRUHS admission portal when notification drops. You need to make an account using your NEET UG Roll Number, Application Number, and valid email. During this phase, you must upload scanned copies of mandatory documents (NEET Rank Card, 10+2 Marks Memo, Study Certificates, and Local Status/MRO Documents) and pay the non-refundable registration processing fee.

2.Verification of Uploaded

The university’s selection committee conducts an online/offline verification of your uploaded documents. Special category candidates (such as NCC, CAP, Sports, or PwD) are typically called to a designated helpline center for physical verification. Once complete, Dr. YSRUHS releases an official state-wide Eligible Candidates Merit List.

3.Web Option Entry (Choice Filling):Step 3 – College Selection.

After the merit release, the web option window opens. Candidates must log in using their authorizations and an OTP verification code. You can choose from the list of available Government and Private Medical/Dental colleges based on your preference.

4.Seat Allotment & Reporting

Based on your NEET State Rank, category reservation, regional status (AU or SVU), and choices locked, Dr. YSRUHS publishes the Round-wise Seat Allotment Order. Nominated students must download their formal Allotment Letter, pay the mandatory University Fee online, and report to the chosen medical college with all original IDs to confirm their seat.

Critical Counselling Rules for collegelist.in

  • Free Exit Option: AP counselling rules severely allow a “Free Exit” only during Round 1. If a candidate is allotted a seat in Round 1, they can choose not to join without forfeiting their registration or security cash limits.
  • The Round 2 Upgradation Trap: If you join a college in Round 1 and get upgraded to another college in Round 2, your Round 1 seat is routinely cancelled in real-time and passed down to the next eligible merit candidate. You cannot reclaim your Round 1 asset under any situations.

Andhra Pradesh MBBS Counselling FAQs

Click on any question to view the verified answer regarding Dr. YSRUHS admissions.

Q1. Is there a compulsory rural or government service bond after completing MBBS in Andhra Pradesh? +
No. Andhra Pradesh does not impose any mandatory post-MBBS rural or government service bond for candidates admitted through either the All India Quota (AIQ) or the State Quota (Category A, B, or C). Graduates are completely free to pursue private practice or post-graduate setup immediately.
Q2. What is the 'Free Exit' rule in AP NEET UG web counselling? +
The Free Exit option is strictly available only during **Round 1** of the counselling process. If a candidate is allotted a medical seat in Round 1 and chooses not to join, or joins and subsequently resigns within the officially designated Round 1 timeline, no financial penalty is levied.
Q3. What is the financial penalty for dropping or resigning a seat mid-course? +
If a student vacates or resigns an MBBS seat after the final phase of web options allocation, or leaves the course mid-way through the 4.5 years duration, they must pay a seat discontinuation penalty of ₹3,00,000 + 18% GST to Dr. YSRUHS to compensate for seat wastage.
Q4. What is the primary difference between Category-A and Category-B seats in Private Medical Colleges? +
  • Category-A (50% Seats): These are Convenor Quota seats allocated purely on merit to local AP students. The state-regulated fee is highly subsidized at ₹16,500 / Year.
  • Category-B (35% Seats): These are Management Quota seats open to both local AP students and non-local out-of-state candidates on absolute merit. The regulated fee structure is ₹13,20,000 / Year.
Q5. How do the AU and SVU regional reservations impact candidate allocation? +
Under the 85% State Quota, seats are demographically split into local university areas: **Andhra University (AU)** region and **Sri Venkateswara University (SVU)** region. Local students get an 85% seat allotment preference within their native university area colleges, while the remaining 15% seats function as an unreserved pool open to all local regions.
